The only drama I’m watching this season is Rebound.
The main characters are Saki Aibu and Mokomichi Hayami.
Those two were in Zettai Kareshi (A perfect boyfriend) couple years ago.
I was not into Zettai Kareshi much, since it’s not real at all but Rebound is pretty good so far.
In this drama, rebound is implied as weight goes back to before after losing weight.
The girl used to weight 85kg (187lbs.) but decided to lose weight after her BF dumped her.
She joined a special program and weighs 45kg (100lbs.)
She got hired in a magazine publishing company and was told to go to a popular pastry shop to write journals.
However, she’s addicted to cakes and was told by the doctor that once she eats it, she will not be able to resist her appetite….
Even so, she ate the cake.. however, she did not think it was tasty.
She criticized the pastry shop in a magazine, and it affected the pastry so bad.
The patissier is a bit short tempered and asked her to support him until he baked a cake that the girl love.
Now she put herself into a situation to rebound back to her old weight.
I have watched until episode 4 and the story goes relatively fast, so it is hard to get bored.
Also, the girl and I have a lot in common.
I was the chubbiest girl in high school and decided to lose weight on my freshman year. I have lost around 14kg (there is no way I could be 45kg), so I’m attached to her.
It is Japanese culture that fat people always criticize a lot. People make fun of you, and tell right in front of you that you are fat.
In America, curvy girl is considered to be good, but in Japan, a lot of girls want to be bony skinny. I did not realize until I came to the US, but yeah I think Japanese girls are way too skinny.
So, if you are not Japanese, you may not understand why they are so crazy about losing weight, but you can learn about a bit of Japanese cultureJ
